Please see the following statement from Dr. Casey Gerber regarding
our Summer Kodály courses for Summer 2020.
“It is with great sadness that I inform you of the cancellation of our University of Oklahoma Kodály Institute courses for Summer 2020. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the university canceled all in-person classes for the entire summer. In addition, the university stated, “All in-person events on all three campuses are suspended through at least July 31. This restriction includes events that are not University-sponsored as well, including conferences, camps, symposia, and social gatherings.”
Obviously, we are not happy that our program must take a break this summer, interrupting the positive momentum of which you all have been a part. I had considered how online training might look for us in order to make the courses available. However, I know that would not be as meaningful and informative as the “in-person” training would be. A major part of our time together involves playing games, singing, dancing…in short…being together, face to face. I’m not willing to sacrifice the significant depth of learning and personal experiences just to keep us all “on track.”
We will pick back up during the Summer of 2021 by offering the same levels (Levels 1 and 3) that we would have offered this summer in Norman. I’m still not sure as to what the exact dates will be in June. It will either be June 14-25, 2021 or June 21-July 2, 2021. If you find out that a payment was made for your enrollment, and we need to figure out how to refund, just let me know.”
